DontPanic Media in conjunction with Sony Playstation, have launched a contest to promote the upcoming PlayStation3 game LittleBigPlanet.

Sony PlayStation have asked us to seek out the best Sackboy character design, so we’re asking you to show us your creations.

The idea with the contest is that people design Sackboys or girl characters, and the best entry as chosen by our judges will be brought to life as a limited edition six-inch model. The winner will also be rewarded with a copy of the game and a PlayStation 3.

The competition is open to public vote, so people are welcome to vote on their favourite entry.

The competition ends on 4th August 2008, so get doodling!

It’s a monster

July 24th, 2008 - Vinyl Toys

You might, like me, look at this and think nothing more than “oooh another dunny looking the same as all other dunnys” (yes I am not easily impressed some days) but look a bit closer……..can you tell???…….

Of course you can’t tell. It has no size comparison in the photo :) but it is in fact 20 INCHES HIGH!!!! Now THAT makes it worth buying. There’s nothing quite like having a massive toy to over power the rest of your collection. OK that reads sarcastically but I truely mean it.
This bad @$$ figure comes limited edition of 400 being released on the 31st of July (Thursday) via Kidrobot (duh)

The cost is $300 but keep in mind that is 20″ of vinyl you’re paying for. So do it. Buy it.

And as for discussion (yet I like prompting you all to speak your mind) in the battle of size and money who wins? Are you more likely to look at a piece of significant size and think “I need it” or do you think “I would rather be able to pay my bills and eat for the month”?

Radioactive Sheep??

July 23rd, 2008 - Vinyl Toys

I never did manage to truely hide my love for CrazyLabel products and this one is no exeption. Even if you weren’t to keen on Metin’s original Seamour Sheep you still HAVE to own one of these guys.

USB powered, easy to turn on and off (simply tip him onto his side) and only £69 + shipping available RIGHT NOW from the CrazyLabel store here.

He even comes with his own pair of transparent goggles to complete the look. Kudos guys

So what do people here think? Is it a good thing people are doing more with our vinyl toys? Or did you preffer them as simple decorative figures? Pop a comment on here and we’ll see if your thoughts are shared by others.
To get you started I personally think it has its pros and cons. I do love this USB lamp but I wouldn’t be able to really keep it on my toy shelf without making the light itself redundant. I suppose to a degree that would seperate itself not only litteraly from my collection but also make it more of an art product rather than an art toy.
However I do enjoy scattering a few pieces of my collection around my house so having one next to my PC isn’t too far fetched and it would definately stand out to visitors as a talking piece aka “Is that a radioactive sheep glowing by your PC???”

VA forum - announcement

July 23rd, 2008 - Other, VA Announcement, Website

To all our users,

We’re sorry for the downtime of the forum lately.  This is due to a problem (we think) with the recent forum upgrade which is causing our server to be strained, even in low web traffic conditions.  Fear not, functionality of the main site shouldn’t be affected but we realise how important the forum is and we ARE working on fixing the issue as I write this post.  If we’re unable to sort the problem then we’ll more than likely go back to the old forum software and then go from there.
Cheers,

~ Unsungzero
